This 2 day course aims to simplify the shoulder complex focusing on assessing motor control, what can influence it and prescribing the exercises to manage it. The course will look at current evidence to better understand management with a specific focus on managing shoulder pain within a bio-psychosocial framework and moving away from more traditional treatments. Participants will be taken through the RC deficient shoulder through to managing complex instability using clinical scenarios to help clinically reason, participants will be encouraged to be interactive and challenge current thinking.
Aim/Objectives
- To understand motor strategy at the shoulder girdle.
- Apply a theoretical model of muscle functional to exercise prescription
- To be able to assess shoulder pain within a bio-psychosocial model
- Understand what are key prognostic indicators for physiotherapy outcome in shoulder pain
- To be able to outline a management plan and shared goals with patients.
- Understand the role of physiotherapy versus surgical management in relation to shoulder conditions
