Andrew Cuff

Qualifications

Andrew qualified from Oxford Brookes University with a First Class Honours degree in Physiotherapy and has completed his MSc in Physiotherapy from Sheffield Hallam University where he finished at the top of his cohort. He is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, the Health and Care Professions Council, the British Elbow & Shoulder Society, the Extended Scope Physiotherapist Network and an associate member of the Society of Musculoskeletal Medicine. He is an author with the Cochrane Bone, Joint and Muscle Trauma Group.

Experience

Andrew has extensive experience within both the NHS and Private Practice as a Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist. In November 2015, Andrew became the youngest Extended Scope Practitioner (ESP) in the country and continues this role alongside his work at Remedy Physio. An ESP is a Physiotherapist working at a high level of expertise that have extended their practice and skills in a specialised clinical area, such as injection therapy or the requesting of diagnostic investigations, and are considered expert health professionals (ESPPN Constitution 2012). Whilst Andrew offers specialist assessment in all neuro-musculoskeletal complaints he is particularly skilled in the treatment of chronic pain problems, especially where pain has persisted and has not responded successfully to previous treatment. He has been trained in the use of Cognitive Functional Therapy from Professor Peter O’Sullivan and has vast experience in treating patients with Persistent Low Back Pain. Andrew is passionate about educating his patients and uses a variety of manual techniques and individualised exercise programmes to ensure effective rehabilitation. Andrew’s clinical specialism is in the management of upper limb conditions, especially complex shoulder presentations and regularly receives referrals via recommendation from local Orthopaedic surgeons. Andrew is a member of the prestigious British Elbow and Shoulder Society (BESS) and is the Clinical Lead for the Shoulder Service at Remedy Physio. As well as being an accomplished clinician, Andrew is an active researcher with ongoing studies investigating rehabilitation of Shoulder conditions in clinical practice. He has published research on both the shoulder and the assessment of movement dysfunctions, and has been previously invited to present his work at the Physiotherapy Research Society conference 2015, the Physiotherapy UK Congress 2015 and the Upper Limb Symposium 2013. Andrew is an author for the prestigious Cochrane Bone, Joint and Muscle Trauma Research Group undertaking systematic reviews of published research to help guide clinical practice. Andrew was formally a Research Physiotherapist at the University of Warwick where he was part of the renowned Warwick Orthopaedics research group and whilst there taught and examined on the Postgraduate Medicine course training future doctors. With a passion to share knowledge, Andrew is regularly invited to deliver workshops and external lectures to fellow clinicians in order to improve clinical practice and update clinicians on contemporary research. Interests

Andrew is committed to practicing what he preaches and participates in most sports. He is a keen cricketer and claims that the advice he gave Joe Root on a night out in Sheffield has propelled the young Yorkshire batsman to England glory!
